Lyme disease treatment
After a tick bite has been discovered, it is necessary to remove the entire tick with, for example, tick tweezers. Make sure that the tick is removed in its entirety. A tick that is not properly removed can also cause Lyme disease. It is important that Lyme disease is diagnosed quickly. The sooner the disease is diagnosed, the better the treatment will be. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection and is therefore treated with antibiotics.
GP
After a tick bite, the tick should be removed immediately and in its entirety. A red ring may appear on the skin. If symptoms such as headache, fever and muscle pain (flu-like symptoms) develop within three months of the tick bite, it is important to visit your GP. They will then prescribe antibiotics. If no ring has formed around the bite and there are symptoms, the GP can perform a blood test to make a diagnosis.
After treatment with antibiotics, one is not immune to Lyme disease. It can therefore occur again.
